If we look around the church today we might get very discouraged. Declining congregations, trouble filling pulpits (and when they are, what teaching are they filled with?), people who have lost their very reason for being in the church at all. Nehemiah was called by God to lead a work of rebuilding a city, Jerusalem, and to lead the people to renew their covenant with God. The story is one of spiritual leadership, courage in the face of opposition, setbacks, disappointment, joy. The book is there to teach us what to expect as we serve Christ in building his church. Follow with us as we study Nehemiah together. You can find the sermons here and the text of the book here. |

Often in a movie or a book, if you don't get the beginning of the story then you can feel a little lost later on. "Why did she do that? What's the significance of that scene?" Sometimes you can pick it up as you go along, but often you simply miss the point. The same could be said of the Bible. Miss the start of the Bible's account, and you don't get the rest of it. Miss the root problem of mankind and you miss the reason why there is a Christmas story at all. This sermon goes to the root of the problem and sees how God has taken the initiative right at the start in setting about salvation. |

From Luke 9:51 onwards, Jesus sets his face towards Jerusalem. He knows the time for his death is approaching. Luke helps us keep focussed, not on the journey itself, but on the teaching Jesus gives to his disciples on the way. In this passage Jesus teaches us about the mission that the disciples, and in turn we, are to be engaged in. Hear the sermon here. |

Solihull Presbyterian Church has been worshipping together for four years now. An observer might reasonably ask, "What do you think you are trying to do?" The answer, of course, is found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. And the news about Jesus changed the world. To find out more, listen to the sermon preached at our 4th Anniversary service, "They have Turned the World Upside Down" from Acts 17:1-9. |
